About Brainspotting Therapy
Brainspotting is a newer trauma-focused therapy that uses specific eye positions (brainspots) combined with focused attention to access and process traumatic memories, emotional material, and negative belief systems stored in the brain. At Trust SoCal, our Brainspotting-trained therapists guide clients to discover their brainspots—locations in the visual field where trauma processing is most active—and use sustained focus on these positions to facilitate rapid, profound healing without extensive verbal processing.
Brainspotting is based on the principle that where you look affects what you are accessing in your brain. By finding the precise eye position that connects to traumatic material, clients can process that material with minimal verbal narration, reducing the re-traumatization often associated with recounting trauma. Many clients report that Brainspotting produces results more quickly than EMDR or traditional talk therapy, with particularly strong effects for processing somatic (body-level) trauma and releasing stuck emotional states that drive addictive behavior.
